Launching With Joy

Our campaign officially launched on Oct. 27. Because the renovation is focused on the Children’s Wing, First Free’s children were asked by the Pastors to help lead our worship services on this special day. (This ensured a busy day for both kids and their teachers / leaders!)

It was heartwarming to see kids volunteering as Ushers, Greeters and Guest Service Hosts. The Kids’ Choir also sang. Children presented announcements during church, led the congregation in worship, read scripture and shared prayers they had written. Several parents dedicated their children to God while dedicating themselves to raising those kids in Christ. A video was presented after the sermon that highlighted Kids’ Camp, our Sunday morning children’s programming. Watch the quick video below to hear the children respond to the renovation news!

To end each service, the SEEDS 22:6 Committee was joined by special guests representing various demographics in our congregation. Amanda and Andrew Redmann currently have young kids in our program. Gwen Malcolm teaches in multiple children’s rooms. Bruce Henry is grandfather to several young ones at First Free and a pastor on staff. Together, these households shared reasons why the Children’s Wing Renovation will be such a benefit to our church body.

After the second service, First Free gathered in the Gym for a potluck. Of course, macaroni and cheese was a featured menu item in honor of the kids! There was a huge turn-out and the Youth Center was opened to accommodate the overflow. The Gym walls also featured blueprints, digital renderings, project phases, ways to pray and more. People were invited to tour the Children’s Wing to get a scope of the improvements soon to take place.

SEEDS 22:6 has begun. Let’s move forward with thanksgiving and anticipation!
