Outreach Opportunities

Our desire is for every believer attending First Free to be committed and empowered to glorify God through declaring the good news of Jesus and demonstrating the love of Jesus through godly care and service. Jesus gave the example of proclaiming the good news and doing good deeds and instructed that this same pattern be followed by His disciples. Jesus has loved us and made the ultimate sacrifice for us. We serve others because Jesus served us in the greatest possible way.

First Free organizes these ministries to serve our community:

First Free Car CareCar Care

Meets the second Saturday of each month at AM-PM Auto Repair in White Bear Lake. Car Care performs minor repairs such as brakes, oil changes, tires, and belts for people in need in the church and community.

The Creator’s Crafters

The Creator’s Crafters is a ministry of compassion benefiting our local community as well as other areas of the world. This group sews items for Samaritan’s Purse, World Medical Missions (through Samaritan’s Purse), New Life Family Services, The Salvation Army and Slumberland’s Home for the Holidays Program.

Harvest Gardens

The Harvest Gardens is an area of over 1,100 community gardens established on land about a block away from our church building. It has been used as a community outreach to share the land God has provided and to demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ. Gardens are available to anyone, without cost, on a first-come basis. Gardeners come from many communities around the Twin Cities, a diverse mixture of cultures and languages. Learn more about the Harvest Gardens.

First Free has partnerships and active volunteers with these organizations:

Arrive Ministries

Arrive Ministries works in partnership with World Relief. Through this ministry church teams have the opportunity to “adopt” a refugee family for one year.

Crossroads Chapel

Crossroads Chapel has been a mainstay at the Minnesota State Fair for over 58 years, showing Christian films, serving refreshments and holding Sunday services. The core purpose of Chapel is to represent Christ at the Fair by providing a “place to meet” for Christians and a “place to seek” for those who don’t yet know Him. Volunteers can serve as greeters, sound technicians, bookstore cashiers, and children’s craft leaders. Learn more here!

First Free New Life Family Services Walk for LifeNew Life Family Services

New Life Family Services supports women, men, children and families faced with pregnancy-related needs with the love and compassion of Christ. They offer services including pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, parenting and adoption education, baby items and equipment, abortion recovery groups and spiritual counsel. Licensed by the State of Minnesota, they also provide full and limited adoption services to those seeking to build their family through adoption.

Operation Christmas Child

The mission of Operation Christmas Child demonstrates God's love to needy children around the world, and together with the local church worldwide, to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. Volunteers pack gift-filled shoe boxes stuffed with toys, school supplies and hygiene items that are delivered to children in need around the world, along with the message of the Gospel.

Salvation Army

The Salvation Army preaches the Gospel of Jesus Christ and meets human needs in His name without discrimination. Services and programs of The Salvation Army depend heavily upon regular and seasonal volunteers in order to serve those in need in our community.

Union Gospel Mission

Founded in 1902, the Union Gospel Mission is a Christian ministry dedicated to serving the homeless, poor, and addicted in our community (men, women and children). Providing safe shelter, nutritious food, dental and medical care, and a broad variety of life-changing programs, the Mission helps people rebuild their lives—physically, emotionally, spiritually and educationally.
